Dear Empowerment Academy Families, 

 

Welcome to The Empowerment Academy for the 2021-2022 School Year! I am excited to start another year at the Empowerment Academy. I, as well as our amazing staff, are eager to begin the new school year. We are working diligently to prepare the absolute best for you and your scholar. 

 

Last year was a challenging year for many of us, as we navigated the uncertainty that COVID-19 brought us. Even though things may be returning to “normal”, we will continue to navigate the uncertain waters of the pandemic and endure challenges and learn new things along the way. We became a strong village to support each other through a very difficult time and that is what sets The Empowerment Academy apart from the rest.

 

A a school community, we achieved the following : 

• We successfully transformed our school’s high quality instruction, culture, and climate to a virtual space.

• We maintained a high attendance rate of 92% during virtual learning.

• Those teachers who did not feel comfortable with using technology are very tech savvy and are eager to use more technology in the classroom.

• 50% of our students in grades K-2 are reading at or above grade level. 

 

As we embark on a new school year, I would love to continue to have you involved in the school because we know that having parents as partners makes our school stronger and better.  This year's theme will be: “Destination Excellence: Passport to Greatness”. It is with your involvement and partnership that we can achieve excellence. 

 

You can help us  become partners in the following ways: 

 

• Join our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)  as a general member or assume a leadership role 

• Be an active member in School Family Council

• Volunteer in your child’s classroom

• Donate your time in other capacities such as school beautification

• Assist with our Winter and Spring productions

• Chaperone field trips

 

The research clearly supports that a child’s success is strongly attributed to their parent’s involvement and investment in their child’s education. As you can see, we value your partnership in creating and cultivating a nurturing learning environment for your child.

 

We truly believe that open communication is the key to a successful educational experience. Together, we will continue to improve the quality of our school community and provide the best for the children of The Empowerment Academy. Providing a great education for our students is the result of a successful partnership between the school, students, parents/guardians, and community. All children are more successful when we, as a school community, all work together to achieve our educational goals.
